Johns Manville supports its local community in a lot of ways. Share some of the projects and efforts you do to support local initiatives.

Our employees believe in giving back to the communities where we live and work. Our outreach efforts focus on the causes that matter most to our employees and to our customers. JM’s employee-driven volunteer program, JM STARS, gives JM employees a platform to raise awareness about volunteer opportunities. Through JM STARS and individual employee volunteerism, we’ve helped communities recover from hurricanes; hosted food, clothing and school supply drives; fed the homeless; built homes; cleaned our communities and more. Our outreach efforts focus on the causes that matter most to our employees and our customers. In Denver, we regularly support the MS150 two-day bicycle ride and we partner every year with the Mile High United Way for our annual employee giving campaign. This year, we are particularly proud to be the official volunteer sponsor of the Colfax Marathon in October.

Why is partnering with Women’s Bean Project important to Johns Manville? Can you share how your company and its values align with Women’s Bean Project’s mission?

The Bean Project mission is to change women’s lives by providing steppingstones to self-sufficiency through social enterprise. The organization believes all women have the power to transform their lives through employment. At JM, one of our core values is People. We are people champions. This aligns well with the Women’s Bean Project. JM fully supports the women in the Bean Project as they learn to stand tall, find their purpose and break the cycle of poverty. When that happens, we all win.

As a company, what are you most looking forward to in the year ahead? Do you have any exciting updates you want people to know about?

Yet, for all the struggle and strife that came with pandemic, we also saw some truly remarkable things happen in the past year: our businesses found new ways to reach customers, our employees found new ways to collaborate, and people around the world supported medical workers and first responders for their invaluable contributions. We will continue to work hard to protect and support our employees as we all see (hopefully!) an end to the pandemic.
