- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- In a medium mixing bowl, melt butter and chocolate chips together in the microwave or on a double boiler. Let cool to room temperature.
- Add in eggs and buttermilk and beat well by hand.
- Gradually combine dry brownie mix into wet mixture, beating by hand until well blended.
- Spread batter evenly into a lightly greased 8-inch square pan. Cover with crushed candy canes.
- Bake for about 20 to 25 minutes or until sides of brownies begin to pull away from the pan. Allow to cool completely in pan on a wire rack, then lightly loosen the sides and cut to serve.
